(Neb.)- Crawford & Sioux County Split Doubleheader
(Chadrad Sports)- Crawford and Sioux County split the wins Tuesday night, with Sioux County boys taking home the victory and the Crawford girls upsetting the Warriors.
The boys took the floor first in Crawford, where Sioux County held the Rams to less than five points in each of the first two quarters. The Warriors led 12-3 after one period and were up 19-5 at the break. Sioux County didn’t let up in the third, assembling a 16-9 run. The Rams outscored Sioux County by three in the final eight minutes, but the Warriors still earned the 39-21 win.
The Rams had just one field goal in the contest, scoring the rest of their points from five treys and four free throws. Will Ackerman led the Rams with 12 points. Sioux County had two players in double digits – Michael Comstock with 12 and Tommy Watson with 11.
When the girls took the floor, the Rams and Warriors were tied at three and again at five before the Rams took a 12-5 lead. The second quarter was one of defense with Crawford getting a 5-4 edge for a 17-9 lead at the break. The Rams stepped it up in the third with a 15-7 run and fought off a 15-12 challenge by the Sioux County Warriors in the fourth for the 44-31 victory.
Natalie Barry led the Rams with 15 points, with seven of those coming at the free throw line, while Jasmine Dyer sank 10, including four free throws.
Sioux County left 14 points on the floor from the charity stripe and was led on the scoreboard by Kodie Rempp, the only Warrior in double digits with 10.
