(neb.)- Sioux County Boys Go 1-1 To Stay Above .500
(Chadrad Sports)- The Sioux County boys split their weekend games, picking up a win over Minatare Friday but losing narrowly to Leyton Saturday with two of their seven-member roster out sick.
The Warriors rolled to a 57-32 victory over the Minatare Indians, taking an early 15-6 lead as Tristan Hunter and Tommy Watson found the net for nine and six points in the opening frame alone. By half-time, the Warriors were up 26-13 and continued the momentum after the break with an 18-4 run. Minatare mounted a challenge in the fourth with a 15-13 run thanks to three treys, but time ran out before they could eliminate the gap entirely. Hunter led the Warriors with 23 points, followed closely by Watson with 22.
Sioux County traveled to Leyton Saturday without two starters due to illness, leaving them with just five players for the contest. Tommy Watson scored the first seven points for Sioux County for a 7-0 lead, which the Warriors extended to 19-10 by the end of the first frame. Leyton turned things around in the second with a 13-5 run to make it 24-23 Sioux County at half-time. A strong third quarter by Leyton put them ahead as the game entered the final eight minutes. Sioux County answered in the fourth quarter, taking a 50-48 lead with just over a minute remaining, only to see that slip away as Leyton took the 54-50 win.
Watson led the Warriors with 20 points, followed by Michael Comstock with 15.
Sioux County is now 10-9 on the year and will face Crawford Tuesday night.
