(Neb.)- Crawford Boys Split Weekend Games
(Chadrad Sports)- The Crawford Rams boys’ basketball team dropped a narrow contest to Potter-Dix Friday and earned a victory over Cody-Kilgore Saturday, bringing them to 8-11 on the season.
A rough third quarter turned the tide against the Rams in Friday’s 49-47 loss to Potter-Dix. Crawford held the Coyotes to single digits in both first-half quarters, leading 11-6 after one period and 21-14 at half-time. But Potter-Dix made a strong statement in the third quarter with a 21-4 run to take a 10-point lead into the final eight minutes. The Rams regained their momentum in the fourth, netting 22 points, but the Coyotes capped the game with 14 points to maintain the two-point edge.
The Rams had better luck the next night in a 47-38 win over the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys. Crawford’s defense held the Cowboys to single digits in the first three periods, earning a five-point advantage after one frame and taking a 24-14 lead into the break. The Rams added to that lead with a 9-5 run in the third for a 34-19 margin as the fourth quarter began. The Cowboys redoubled their efforts in the final eight minutes, netting 19 points while holding the Rams to 14, but it wasn’t enough to earn the win.
The Crawford Rams will host Sioux County at home Tuesday.
