(Neb.)- Lady Warriors Pounce On Edgemont For 43-26 Win
(Chadrad Sports)- The Sioux County girls improved to 6-2 Saturday with a hard fought 43-26 win over the Edgemont Moguls.
Edgemont jumped out to an early lead as Sioux County struggled with cold shooting hands. The Moguls, 0-7 as the game began, were looking for their first win and a 12-8 run in the first quarter sparked their hopes that Saturday could be it. Sioux County narrowed the gap with a 6-4 run in the second, trailing 16-14 at half. The second half momentum turned in the Warriors’ favor with back-to-back three-pointers by Kodie Rempp and Karlee Juhnke. A second trey by Rempp helped the Warriors go on a 15-7 run over the Moguls and take a 29-23 lead into the final period.
But Edgemont wasn’t giving up on obtaining their first win easily. They tied the contest at 35 with just over a minute left in the game with a trey by Peyton Ostenson. The Warriors’ Rempp answered with a trey of her own and sank two free throws when Edgemont sent her to the line on Sioux County’s next possession, giving the Warriors a 40-35 lead with under a minute remaining. Edgemont managed just one more point on a free throw by Sarah Barker, and Sioux County capped the contest with three points from the charity stripe by Skylar Edmund and Suzanna Parker.
Rempp was the only Warrior in double digits with 16 points, netting four treys and going 4-for-4 from the line. Ostenson led the Moguls with a nearly identical game, putting up 16 points from four treys of her own, a field goal and going 2-for-2 from the line.
