(Neb.)- Watson, Willadsen Named To RMAC Academic Honor Roll
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Cross country runners Madison Watson and Emma Willadsen were the Chadron State College representatives named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic honor roll on Tuesday, when the annual academic awards were presented at RMACSports.org.
Both are junior members of the CSC women's cross country team which recently concluded its season at the NCAA South Central Region Championships in Canyon, Texas.
The RMAC academic honor roll recognizes student-athletes in the league, with at least one full academic year at their current institutions, who have earned a cumulative 3.30 grade point average or better.
Both of the Eagles runners are studying family and consumer sciences. Watson (Mitchell, Neb.) holds a 3.54 GPA, while Willadsen (Eaton, Colo.) carries a 3.91.
The pair were the first two on the team to cross the finish line at both the RMAC Championships and the NCAA Regional, where they both finished in the top half of the field of 194 athletes. Watson's six-kilometer time of 23:56.54 was good for 67th, while Willadsen placed 84th, in 24:24.48.
The RMAC Academic Runner of the Year awards went to Taylor Stack of the Western Colorado men's team, and Chloe Cook for the Colorado School of Mines women.
