(Neb.)- Chadron High Softball & Girl Golf Begin Districts Today
(Chadrad Sports)- Today is the beginning of the end for Nebraska high school fall sports as softball and girls' golf both hold districts today.
In golf, the B-4 district tournament is at the Crandell Creek course in Ogallala with Chadron joined by 6 other schools - Alliance, Gering, McCook, Ogallala, Scottsbluff, and Sidney.
It's a much bigger field for the C-5 in McCook tomorrow. It has a dozen teams - 7 from the Panhandle, including Gordon-Rushville.
The top 3 teams in each district advance on to state along with any individuals from non-qualifying teams who place in the top 10 plus ties.
The 4-team B-10 softball district is in Gering with the host Bulldogs the top seed at 17-9. They open at noon with Chadron, who comes in 9-15. Game 2 is set for 2:00, 13-11 Alliance versus8-19 Scottsbluff.
The losers play at 4:00 in an elimination game, followed by the winners at 6:00. The survivor of the elimination game plays the loser of the last game tomorrow at 2:00, and that winner meets whoever is unbeaten at 4:00 for the title. A second, if needed, would be played at 6:00.
Chadron heads into districts on a little bit of a roll, having beaten Alliance and Chase County on Saturday by the run rule.
The Cards jumped out to an 8-0 lead after 2 innings against Chase County, gave up 6 runs in the 3rd, then scored 8 more for a 16-6 win in 4 innings.
Alliance grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st, but Chadron scored the last 12 runs for a 12-2 victory, also in 4 innings.
