(Neb)- Eagles Return Home To Face Western Colorado, Colorado Mesa
CHADRON, Neb. -- The Chadron State College volleyball team returns home to the Chicoine Center this weekend as they host Western Colorado on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday. Both matches are set to begin at 6 p.m.
The Mountaineers of Western Colorado enter Chadron with a 7-6 overall record and 3-2 in the RMAC. Like the Eagles, they started conference play 2-0, but dropped their next two contests, including a sweep by Colorado Mesa. The Mountaineers defeated Westminster in their last match.
Offensively, Jordyn Todd leads the team with 149 kills, an average of 3.04 a set with an attack percentage of .226. Setter Hanna Hendrickson has 421 assists, ranking her second in the conference.
Brianna Hardy and Emilee Scates have 27 and 26 blocks, respectively, to lead Western. Four different players have over 100 digs. Todd, a freshman, leads the team with 14 service aces.
Colorado Mesa is 8-5 overall and 4-1 in the RMAC. Their lone conference loss was in five sets at CSU-Pueblo.
Kasie Gilfert leads the Mavericks with 188 kills. Gilfert leads the RMAC with an attack percentage of .428 and an average of 4.37 kills per set.
Two different players have recorded over 200 assists for Colorado Mesa, led by Ara Norwood with 288, while Samantha Ritter has 230.
Three players have over 100 digs, led by Kerstin Layman with 199, an average of 4.52 per set. Gilfert also leads the team with 40 blocks.
Chadron State has swept the Mountaineers the past two seasons, but hasn't defeated Colorado Mesa since 1995.
