(Neb.)- Chadron Girls XC Ranked #1 In Latest NXCCA Poll
(Chadrad Sports)- The Chadron High girls cross country team is the #1 team in Class C according to this weeks Nebraska Cross Country Coaches Association Poll released on Sunday evening.
The Lady Cardinals got 6 first place votes and 82 points in the first set of rankings to be released since the regular season began. Aurora was slotted second with Minden, Lincoln Christian, and Columbus Scotus rounding out the top five.
Chadron won their only official team title at last Friday's Gering Invite with a 22-28 win over Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, but finished as such that if team scoring would have been kept at the Panhandle Invitational to open the season, the Cards would have taken first there as well.
Chadron is being led by a strong youth movement from a pair of Sophomores in Mackenzie Butts and Leila Tewahade, and a trio of Freshman in the Fuller twins, Makinely and Macaiah, along with Aspen Graves.
The boys also received votes this week after a strong performance in Gering, receiving 7 votes. Sidney leads the Class C boys rankings just ahead of Douglas County West and Aurora.
The Chadron squads are home this Saturday for the Chadron Invitational.
