(Neb.)- Creek Valley Downs Hay Springs 42-19
(Chadrad Sports)- In a game of numbers, the Hay Springs football team fell short to Creek Valley on Friday night 42-19.
The Hawks were coming in short handed suiting up 6 players, but put up a battle in the first half. Creek Valley struck first on a punt return touchdown early in the 1st quarter, and then blocked an ensuing Hay Springs punt in the end zone and fell on top of it for another 6-points.
The Hawks found the end zone for the first time this season on a Logan DeCoste 27-yard run, but the Storm answered back with a touchdown run of their own. The Creek Valley defense would come up with a safety to increase their lead to 22-6 before the Hawks would rattle off back to back scores. One a 26-yd pass from Gabe Varvel to Toby Scherbarth, the second a Kade Moore 55-yd scoop and score on the defensive side.
Creek Valley would tally the next two touchdowns before half to grab a 34-19 lead at the half.
During the break, Hay Springs would lose a player due to injury. After a quick Creek Valley touchdown, the game was called with 8:19 left in the 3rd quarter.
Hay Springs is hopeful that it will be able to play next Friday's road game at South Platte.
