LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Gerald Mattinson is the new head coach of the Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team.
UW athletics director Tom Burman announced Tuesday that Mattinson, who has been associate head coach of the Cowgirls the past 12 years, will replace the retiring Joe Legerski.
According to a university news release, Mattinson has agreed to a contract with an annual base salary of $220,000 along with performance-based incentives.
In the news release, Mattinson says the bar of excellence has been set high at Wyoming and he looks forward to continuing that excellence.
Heather Ezell has been promoted to associate head coach, and Fallon Lewis has been elevated to assistant coach.
Mattinson's coaching career includes stints as head boys' basketball coach at Rock Springs High School and assistant coach at Western Wyoming Community College.
