(Neb.)- CSC Indoor HS Meet Still Slated For Saturday
Despite the blizzard that socked the region on Wednesday, Chadron State College’s 29th annual Chadron State College Indoor Track and Field Meet for high school athletes is still scheduled to take place on Saturday.
The field events are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and the track events at 10:30 in the Nelson Physical Education Center.
Chadron State Coach Riley Northrup said if the meet is cancelled, he will notify the coaches and the media Friday afternoon.
Approximately 500 athletes have participated in the meet in recent years.
As the season-opener, all participants are placed in one class and no team scores are calculated. While larger schools such as Scottsbluff, Gering and Sidney won a bulk of the firsts last year, smaller teams such as Bayard, Chadron, Guernsey-Sunrise, Hemingford, Kimball and Morrill claimed the top place in at least one event.
Coaches appreciate having an indoor meet available to open the season because it gives the athletes competition and helps keep them energized.
