(Neb.)- Chadron Turns Back Hemingford With 2nd Half Defense
(Chadrad Sports)- Chadron overcame a hot shooting first half from Hemingford to pull away from the Bobcats for an 86-64 win on Tuesday night.
Hemingford went toe to toe with the Cards for the first two quarters, using nine 1st half three pointers to stay within striking distance and even taking the lead during the 2nd quarter, but 20 1st half points from Pat Rust helped Chadron counter on the offensive end and a 44-40 halftime lead.
The 2nd half was a completely different story as Colton Olson scored 20 of his 27 points in the in the 3rd and 4th quarters and Hemingford only connected four shots. The Cats did use 12 free throws in the 2nd half to keep it close through the 3rd quarter at 64-54, but Chadron outscored Hemingford 22-10 down the final stretch.
Rust led all scorers with 28 followed by Olson's 27.
The Cardinals are now 7-5 on the season and face a big challenge on the road Friday at Alliance.
