(Neb.)- Hickstein Begins Girls Amateur Title Defense On Thursday
(Chadrad Sports)- A summer full of tournament play eases to an end for Chadron's Alpine Hickstein who will set out to defend her Nebraska Girl's Amateur golf title this Thursday and Friday at Elks Country Club in Columbus.
Hickstein won last years event with a two day score of 148, holding off Megan Whittaker of Elkhorn by three strokes.
Hickstein's last action was a week and a half ago at the Junior Girls Four State Tournament in Ames, Iowa where she finished 15th, but does have a championship under her belt from the Nebraska Lions Club All-Star Tournament at the end of June.
She also laid claim to a pair of 5th place finishes in the Nebraska Girls Amateur Match Play Tournament and the Nebraska Women's Amateur Stroke Play Tournament, also in June.
The soon to be Freshman at Chadron State currently sits in 5th in the Nebraska Golf Association Girls point standings with 875, just seven behind Nicole Kobas of Lincoln. Whittaker leads the pack with 1,407.
Hickstein will tee off on Thursday from hole ten at 8:30 AM.
