(Wyo.)- UW Athletics Made $104,000 From Alcohol Sales In 1st Year

By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 05/09/2018 10:18 AM
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming didn't earn as much as it projected from alcohol sales during the first season in which beer and wine were available for purchase inside the football stadium and the basketball arena.
The Laramie Boomerang reports that between football and men's and women's basketball, UW Athletics brought in $504,000 in beer and wine sales.
But after accounting for state sales taxes, startup costs and paying the vendor that sold beer and wine to fans, the university made a profit of about $104,000.
Original projections were a profit of about $209,000.
Senior associate athletic director for business operations Bill Sparks says $82,000 in startup costs cut into the bottom line and that amount should not have to be expended again.
