(Neb)-CSC Softball Goes Winless in Utah
ST. GEORGE, Utah -- The Chadron State College softball team gave up 3 unearned on 4 errors in the first 4 innings Saturday and lost 5-3 to the host team at the Dixie State Easton Classic..
Chadron State finished the tournament 0-3 and with a season record of 2-8. 9th-ranked Dixie State improved to 7-0 on the year so far.
The Trailblazers scored twice in the bottom of the 1st, added 2 more in the 3rd, and 1 in the 4th.
Sophomore Alyssa Geist had a hand in all 3 CSC runs, driving in 2 with a single in the 3rd and a double in the 5th before scoring herself on a single by Kayla Michel.
Alexandria Melendez went 6 innings to earn the win for Dixie State to go to 3-0 while Madi Dove pitched the 7th to claim the save.
CSC's Jessica Jarecki took another hard-luck loss despite going the distance and giving up just 3 hits and 2 earned runs with 7 strikeouts. The sophomore ace went 0-3 in Utah even though she gave up only 10 hits and 5 earned runs while striking out 25 in 19 innings.
Last year's RMAC Co-Freshman of the Year is even better this year despite a 1-5 record, boasting a 2.33 ERA and a .183 opponents batting average while striking out 44 in 39 innings.
The Eagles are off for 2 weeks, returning the 24th and 25th for their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener at #8 Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction.
