(Neb)-Husker Fans Excited By "Frost Preview" In UCF Peach Bowl Victory
Nebraska football fans got an exciting preview of what may lie ahead with new head coach Scott Frost as the former Husker All-American coached 10th-ranked Central Florida beat #7 Auburn 34-27 in the Peach Bowl.
Frost took the Nebraska job nearly a month ago and brought nearly all his Central Florida staff with him, but they all continued to coach the Knights through the game so the offensive and defensive approaches fans saw are what they'll see in Nebraska.
Central Florida ran the ball 34 times for 182 yards and threw it 35 times for 242 more in one of their lowest
Defensively, the Knights gave up 331 yards and 1 touchdown on 43 passing attempts, but also had 6 sacks and 2 interceptions...one a Pick 6
Although he plans to run the same schemes at Nebraska, Frost may not have the level of personnel next year that he had this year at UCF, but even that is a bit encouraging.
Central Florida quarterback McKenzie Milton, one of next year's Heisman favorites who had 242 yards passing and 116 yards rushing against Auburn, was recruited by just one coach - Frost, so the former quarterback who led Nebraska to the 1997 National Championship knows how to find hidden gems in recruiting.
The Peach Bowl victory capped a perfect 13-0 season for Frost and gives him a 19-7 record in 2 seasons with a team that was 0-12 the year before he arrived.
