(Neb.)- Chadron Falls To Sterling In Season Opener
(Chadron)- Cooper Huesman dropped a career high 22-points, 11 of them in the 1st quarter, but Sterling outscored Chadron 20-3 in the second quarter to pull away for a 68-36 win in the first round of the Western Conference Tournament.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead, but the Tigers finished the 1st quarter on an 13-8 run to grab the 20-17 lead.
Chadron’s lone 2nd quarter basket came off of a banked in three pointer from Heusman.
The biggest struggle for Chadron was dealing with the height of Sterling who featured players of 6’8", 6’8", and 6’7", while giving up 11 made three’s.
Division 1 recruit Bodie Hume paced Sterling with 18-points on the night.
Chadron will face the loser of Gering/Greeley West at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Scottsbluff.
