(Neb)-C-6 District Softball Begins Today In Chadron

By: John Axtell Posted at: 10/05/2017 01:22 AM
CHADRON - The 7-team double-elimination Class C-6 district softball tournament begins this morning in Chadron with games at both Hampton Field on North Main Street and at Chadron State College.

The host Lady Cardinals not only have the best record at 16-9, they're the top seed and have a 1st-round bye. We will carry all the Chadron High games on AM Stereo 610 and streaming on Chadrad.com with play-by-play from Jeremy Anderson

The first games are at 9:00 with 4th seed Ord (8-14) meeting St Paul (5-19) at the college while #3 Southern Valley/Alma (15-8) faces against Minden (4-18).

All the rest of today's games will begin no sooner than their listed start times, but could start later depending on the length of the previous games at that field.

At 11:00, 2nd-seeded CCV or Centura/Central Valley (12-11) takes on Chase County (3-25) at Hampton and the Ord-St Paul winner squares off with Chadron at CSC.

One team will be heading home after the 1:00 games as the Southern Valley-Minden loser plays the CCV-Chase County loser in an elimination game at Chadron State. The other 1:00 game matches up the winners of those same two opening games at Hampton Field.

The final two games of the day, both elimination battles, are scheduled to start at 3:00. The winner of the 1:00 game on the CSC diamond will go right back into action there against the the loser of Chadron High's 11:00 game while Hampton Field has the other 1:00 winner trying to stay alive against the loser of the Ord-St Paul game.

Tomorrow morning at 9:00 at Hampton Field, the two unbeaten teams after day one - hopefully Chadron among them- will meet while the two elimination bracket survivors battle at CSC with the loser going home.

The rest of the games will be at Hampton Field. at 11:00, the loser of the 9:00 game will play the winner of the game at CSC, and that winner will play for the title against the lone remaining unbeaten team. If the unbeaten loses, a winner-take-all second game will follow at 3:00.
