(Neb.)- Crawford Picks Up 2nd Win Of The Season
(Chadron)- After a fast and scoreless first quarter, Crawford quarterback Blaine Flack accounted for four of the Rams five touchdowns en route to a 35-6 win over Morrill on Friday.
The Rams broke in to the end zone with 7:33 left in the second quarter when they took advantage of a short Morrill punt to set up at the Morrill 31-yard line on first down. Two plays later Flack zipped a pass over the middle to Andy Wendland to put the home squad up 8-0.
After another Lions punt, Crawford would work down the field inside the 10-yard line until they cashed in on a 6-yard Austin Kennedy run to extend the lead to 14-0. Morrill responded with their first touchdown of the season, a 5-yard Tanner Whetham run to pull within 14-6.
Flack would close out the first half scoring with a 2-yard run with under a minute before before intermission.
On the opening drive of the 3rd quarter, Flack would connect with Wendland for the second time on the night to push the lead out to 28-6. One final touchdown pass from Flack, this time to Aaron Alcorn, would close out the scoring with 4:48 left in the third quarter.
Both teams exchanged turnovers in the fourth quarter, and Morrill ran out the remainder of the clock.
The Rams win moves them to 2-1 on the season and will have next week off before returning home to host Paxton on the September 22nd.
