(Neb.)- Lady Cards Go Cold In Loss To Mitchell

By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 01/07/2017 07:41 PM
(Chadron)- Chadron snagged an early 4-0 over Mitchell, but unfortunately that was the bright spot of the night as Mitchell outscored Chadron 45-16 the rest of the game for a 45-20 win.

It was the kind of night where the Lady Cardinals leading scorer was shared by three players all with four points... Danielle Johnson, Jadyn McCartney, and True Thorne.

The Lady Tigers attacked with a suffocating full court defense, and countered on offense with 6'3" sophomore Kiyana Wilfred who tallied 17 points for Mitchell.

After jumping out to the 4-0 lead Chadron trailed 8-6 after one quarter, and from there things went downhill.

Chadron never scored more than four or six points in any quarter, dropping ten in each half.

The Lady Cards hit a total of eight shots on the night, four in each half accompanied by a pair of free throws each half.

Mitchell led 21-10 at half and 31-16 after three quarters.

Coming away with two points each in the game were Teagan Westemeier, Dana Dunbar, Carstyn Hageman, and Tyleigh Strotheide.

The Lady Cardinals will try to rebound on Tuesday when they host Hemingford, a team they defeated 47-31 in the championship of the Rotary Holiday Classic on December 30th.
