(Neb)-Wyo Man Convicted In Neb Of Threatening President Trump

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -  A federal jury in Omaha has convicted a Wyoming man of threatening to kill President Donald Trump. 27-year-old Timothy Cessor was returned to Cheyenne on Wednesday after the 3-day trial. He could get up to five years in federal prison at his sentencing in October.

Cessor was convicted of breaking into his father's home gun safe in February of last year and taking a .40 caliber pistol and ammunition. He then began driving toward Washington, DC, stopping in Nebraska to call his father and saying he was going to "take care of Trump" and all members of Congress who support him.

Cessor’s parents persuaded him to drive back to Cheyenne, where his father secured the gun and Cessor agreed to go to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center on a psychiatric out of concerns he might harm himself or others.

While in the hospital, Cessor told medical personnel he was unhappy with the government shutdown "and believed that he had a responsibility to protect the country from the President."

A hospital worker reported the comments the Secret Service, which arrested Cessor but concluded he had no coherent plan for attacks.
