(SD)-'Go/No Go' For Mount Rushmore Fireworks To Be Group Decision
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says there is a stormy weather “go/no-go” plan in place for next week's July 3rd Independence Day fireworks show at Mount Rushmore, but she's not making public the criteria for the decision despite multiple requests..
Noem says the National Park Service, Dept of Interior, and National Weather Service were all involved in developing the plan and will make the joint decision on whether it needs to be activated.
Noem says the decision to cancel an event President Trump is planning to attend isn't one she or the state won't cancel alone, adding that it will be up to "this group of folks that have been working on this project and seeing any environmental concerns from the last year and a half.”
