(Neb)-Split Chadron Council Denies SDL For The Ridge
CHADRON - The Chadron City Council last night unanimously approved an SDL - special designated liquor license - for Fryday's 120 Bar and Grill for a beer garden on Fur Trade Days weekend but rejected on a 3-2 vote a nearly identical request from The Ridge.
The difference was that The Ridge and owner Ron Moore have just finished a year-long license probation by the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission stemming from multiple violations in 2017.
Pressing family business made it impossible for Moore to attend the council meeting, which bothered several council members who wanted to hear assurances from him directly that he'd taken strong steps to prevent repeats of the license issues behind the probation.
Two of the 3 managers of The Ridge detailed changes that include nearly new staff and managers, increased training, and a strong focus on checking IDs.
All 5 council member said they believed Moore was committed to those changes, but Mayor Miles Bannan, Vice Mayor Keith Crofutt, and Cheryle Welch wanted more time to pass to see that the changes were having an impact
