(Neb)-Chadron, Gordon, Rushville Airports Share In Federal Coronavirus Aid

By: John Axtell Posted at: 05/21/2020 11:51 PM
LINCOLN - The  Federal Aviation Administration has provided $64.6-million dollars in coronavirus aid to 72 Nebraska airports, all but about $4-million going to just 6 of those airports.

Eppley Field in Omaha is getting half the money, $32.3-million, with another quarter of it, $16.9-million, going to Kearney Regional.

The others receiving over a million each are Lincoln at $5.6-million, North Platte $3.9-million, Grand Island $2.7-million, and $1.1-million to the Western Nebraska Regional Airport in Scottsbluff.

There are 7 other Panhandle airports sharing $141,000. Chadron and Alliance each get $30,000 with Gordon, Kimball, Oskhosh, and Rushville each receiving $20,000 and $1,000 going to the Chappell airport.

The money is to help meet expenses related to dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, but the definition of that includes paying salaries to avoid layoffs because of revenue losses caused by the sharp drop in travel since the pandemic arrived.
