(Wyo)-Wyo Special Session Opens Tomorrow

By: John Axtell Posted at: 05/14/2020 11:37 PM
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Legislature convenes its first special session in 16 years tomorrow.

The primary task for lawmakers is to allocate over a billion dollars in federal coronavirus assistance funding but also to help businesses and workers impacted by social distancing rules imposed to slow the spread of the pandemic.

Lawmakers have drafted five bills, four of which have mirror versions so the House and Senate can consider them simultaneously. The schedule is to wrap up no later than Saturday.

Today's special session is unique because only a few lawmakers are gathering at the Capitol in Cheyenne. The rest will take part by video conference because of the pandemic.
