HEMINGFORD - Panhandle Covid-19 Unified Command confirmed one new case of the disease yesterday, a Scotts Bluff County man in his 30s whose infection is travel-related and who is in self-quarantine.

The Panhandle now has 75 cases of COVID-19, but 33 of those have recorded. Scotts Bluff County has the most of both with 45 cases and 24 recoveries. That's followed by Kimball County with 10 cases, all recovered.

Cheyenne and Morrill Counties each have 9 cases, Cheyenne with 7 recoveries and Morrill just 2. The lone Box Butte County patient has recovered and the only Dawes County is in self-isolation.

Statewide, Nebraska Health and Human Services recorded 2 more deaths yesterday, bringing the state total to an even 100. There were also 257 new cases of the disease, bringing that county to 8,572 out of 48,019 tested.

The actual number of infections is thought to be far higher than the official count because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected with the virus without feeling sick.
