(Neb)-FNBO Awards $10K Coronavirus Grant To Northern Panhandle United Way

By: John Axtell Posted at: 05/08/2020 02:29 PM
United Way of Western Nebraska serving Box Butte and Dawes Counties is among the first round of recipients sharing more than $3-million dollars from a COVID-19 relief fund established by First National Bank of Omaha.

United Way is receiving $10,000 to help individuals and businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic make payments for rent, mortgages, utilities, and other living expenses. A second round of grants later this spring will focus on workforce development

First National Omaha Vice President of Community Development and Corporate Philanthropy Alec Gorynisk says the grants to 27 organizations in 6 states, including Nebraska and South Dakota, reflect the bank's overall community investment strategy focusing on affordable housing, local workforce training, and small business development

Gorynisk says FNBO is committed to doing its part to mitigate the financial impact of the coronavirus limits on the communities it serves, so it's providing financial support to nonprofit organizations addressing both the short-term needs and long-term impact to individuals and small businesses.
