CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The latest winter storm is blamed for a multi-vehicle crash that closed Interstate 80 for several hours between Laramie and Cheyenne Friday morning.  By the end of the carnage, the crash had claimed 2 dozen vehicles including 19 commercial trucks.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says it began with a motorist sliding off the icy roadway. A trooper stopped and was talking that those in the vehicle when 2 trucks collided, causing several other drivers to lose control and crash - including one that hit the trooper's vehicle.

The Highway Patrol says all those who were injured in the crash were transported to Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie while those involved in the crash who were not injured, which included the trooper, were taken by bus to the Albany County Fairgrounds in Laramie.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for gusts up to 70 mph in the southeast Wyoming high country until Sunday morning, when snowy weather is expected to return to much of the state.

Wyoming Dept of Transportation officials warn that tractor-trailers and other tall and lightweight vehicles are at risk of blowing over during the high winds.
