(Wyo)-4-8 Years And $231K Restitution In Vulnerable Adult Case
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming judge has sentenced a man 4-to-8 years in prison after he spent more than $230,000 belonging to a rancher he considered family.
52-year-old Harvey Bethea was also sentenced to 10 years of probation, fined more than $3,000 and required to pay back $231,255.
His attorney Nick Carter asked for probation for Bethea, who pleaded guilty in August to exploitation of a vulnerable adult, saying his client has health issues and no criminal record.
Bethea took the money from Donny York, who is in his 80s, between April 2016 and 2017. Some of the theft was money supposedly used to purchase cattle except that no cattle were bought. Bethea used part of the stolen money to pay for a lap top, medical bills, and a fur coat.
