(Wyo)-Wyo GOP Leaders Cracking Down On Dissidents
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The leadership of the Wyoming Republic Party is cracking down on members who don't toe the party line, with the GOP Central Committee approving new rules calling for disciplinary action against those who break from the views of state party leadership
The new rules come after some county party leaders, such as Natrona County GOP Chairman Joe McGinley, have criticized the state party's actions.
The Central Committee approved the resolutions during a meeting in Lusk while rejecting proposals by McGinley and other Natrona County leaders seeking to protect free speech.
The resolutions say the First Amendment "does not supersede the conduct and expression within the confines of a private organization" and that violating the party's principles, bylaws or rules of order "could subject a fellow Republican to a disciplinary committee review or disciplinary action."
