(Wyo)-Wyo Hero Airmen Honored For Neb Actions
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Two airmen from FE Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne who helped a Nebraska Panhandle family as their house burned in Kimball County earlier this month have been awarded commendation medals.
Airmen 1st Class Cristopher Horton of Michigan and Christian Reid of Colorado are part of the 90th Security Forces, whose duties include patroling dozens of nuclear missile silos scattered across the Panhandle, southeastern Wyoming, and northeastern Colordo.
They were on patrol near Dix on Nov. 6 they saw a person run across the street as if something were wrong and went to investigate. After spotting a fire on the roof of a house, they knocked on the door to alert the family of four inside - helping them get out along with their pets.
Horton and Reid remained at the scene and aided volunteer firefighters when they arrived at the scene.
The commendation medals were present to both men on Friday at the air base by unit commander Colonel Damien Schlussel.
