(Neb)-Chris Singleton Speaking Thurs Night At CSC Listen
CHADRON - The "Hate: How it Preys on our Fears and Ignorance" conference at Chadron State College is over, but its best-known speaker is sticking around town for one more day.
Former Chicago Cubs baseball player Chris Singleton, whose mother was among the 9 people killed in a 2015 hate crime shooting in a Charleston, SC, church, is speaking Thursday with students, then holding a free public presentation that evening at 7:00 in the CSC Student Center Ballroom.
College director of student support services Jennifer Schaer is excited that the school was able to get Singleton for a second day to talk about how he forgave the man who killed his mother and to spread his mantra of "love is stronger than hate."
Singleton has shared his story with more than 35,000 students and with audiences on ESPN and CNN.
