(Neb)-Forensic DNA Expert Speaking Twice Today At CSC Listen
CHADRON - One of the top experts on DNA testing is at Chadron State College today with a pair of free public programs in the college Student Center, one at noon and the other at 7:00.
Dr John M. Butler is a Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and special assistant to its Director for Forensic Science
Chadron State Director of Marketing Tena Cook says Butler's presentations are different from each other, with the first focused more on the past, present, and future of forensic DNA and the second on the use of DNA for genealogy.
Butler will also talk about how genealogical DNA testing is now being used by law enforcement to identify unknown suspects.
Dr John Butler helped pioneered techniques for forensic DNA testing, has written more than 175 scientific research articles and five textbooks on Forensic DNA, and has given hundreds of presentations in the U.S. and 26 other countries.
