(SD)-Rapid City Senator Resigning
South Dakota State Senator Alan Solano of Rapid City is resigning because of the time requirements of his job. A Republican, Solano has served District 32 since 2014 and is stepping down Nov 30.
Solano was named CEO of the John T. Vucurevich Foundation last October and says he's recognized the difficulties of his legislative, professional, and familly responsibilities - adding that he needs "to take a step back and focus" on the foundation and his family.
Solano chairs the Senate Education Committee and the Interim Rules Review Committee, and is also is a member of the Health and Human Services and the Transportation Committees.
Gov. Kristi Noem has asked for public input in filling the Senate vacancy with November 8th the deadline for nominations.
