By: John Axtell Posted at: 10/29/2019 05:53 PM
STURGIS, S.D. (AP) - Sturgis police say a 68-year-old man was struck and killed by a pickup as he walked in a crosswalk Monday morning in the city's downtown. His name has not been released.
Police Chief Geody VanDewater says the victim was pinned under the pickup, but that officers and bystanders were able to move the vehicle off him and provide first aid until an ambulance arrived. The man was then taken to a hospital, where he died.
Chief VanDewater says the 59-year-old Sturgis man who was driving the pickup was cited for having a windshield obstructed with ice and snow.
