(Neb)-Terrytown Tables Ban On Feeding Ducks
TERRYTOWN, Neb. (AP) - Terrytown city council members have decided to put off indefinitely a proposed ordinance barring anyone from feeding geese, other waterfowl or other wild critters inside city limits.
The council had scheduled a third and final reading and vote last Thursday, but City Attorney Libby Stobel told the members the ordinance conflicted with a proposed zoning change that would allow residents to keep up to 8 hens - either duck, chicken, or turkey.
Stobel said since the proposed ordinance defines ducks as waterfowl, if it were to be adopted, people would be allowed to keep ducks but not feed them.
She recommended that council members first determine whether the ordinance was worth pursuing, at which point the members voted 4-0 to stop any further consideration of the measure.
