CHADRON - The Chadron Public Library is inviting the public to come tonight and celebrate International Observe the Moon. The free event that begins at 6:30 is the last of the year for the NASA@MyLibrary program.

International Observe the Moon Night is an annual worldwide event to encourage observation, appreciation and understanding of the Moon - connecting scientists, educators and ordinary citizens who area lunar enthusiasts from around the world.

The Chadron observation will be outdoors, so participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets, although some chairs will be provided.

It begins at 6:30 with a fireside talk led by Agate Fossil Beds National Monument ranger Alvis Mar, who will share stories about the moon from cultures around the world  After sunset, the program will shift to telescopes and binoculars that allow a closer look at the features of the moon.
