(SD)-Noem's Chief Of Staff Leaves, New One Named
PIERRE, S.D. - South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem announced a major shakeup in her office yesterday with the departure of Chief of Staff Herb Jones and the appointment of Joshua Shields as his successor. Noem also named Beth Hollatz as Deputy Chief of Staff.
Jones served on Noem's campaign for governor, participated in the transition team, and had served as Chief of Staff since she took office in January. He says it was always his intention to get things set up, then go back to being a grandpa.
Noem says she's thankful for Jones' leadership on her team because it takes a special set of skills to help get a governor's office up and running, adding that she will be forever grateful to him for putting in the hours to help get the office going so they can accomplish some big things for South Dakota.
Shields has served as Noem's Chief of Policy & Communications from the beginning of her term, but their relationship goes back to her first congressional run in 2010 when he served as her campaign manager. He was also part of her congressional staff.
Shields has worked in politics, policy, and communications in varying capacities in the public and private sectors. including serving as campaign manager for U-S Senator John Thune's reelection bid and on his Senate staff.
Hollatz worked on all 4 of Noem's congressional campaigns, spent 8 years on her staff as Northeast director or state director, and has served as her Senior Advisor since January.
