(Neb)-Whitney, Dawes Co Water #1 To Start 2 Week Chlorination Monday
WHITNEY - The Village of Whitney and the Dawes County Rural Water District #1 are both telling customers they will be chlorinating the water in both systems for two weeks, starting next Monday, October 7.
Spokesman Robby Tangwall says for several years both systems have been chlorinated every spring and fall to help make sure the water is safe and pure after periods of imbalance cause when water use increases or decreases sharply as ranchers water or stop watering large numbers of cattle.
Tangwall says imbalances cause back-pressure and back-siphonage that can allow bacteria and other pollutants to enter the water system.
The practice of spring and fall chlorination for 2 weeks has proven to be an effective way to deal with the issue and the best response to maintaining water purity in both the Village and Rural systems.
Anyone with questions about the upcoming Whitney and Dawes County Rural #1 chlorination can call Tangwall at 308-430-8980 or Mike Kesselring 308-430-8493.
