(Neb)-Rain Cancels Farmers Market, Harvest Fest; Homecoming Parade Still On
CHADRON - The Chadron Chamber of Commerce has cancelled today's Northwest Nebraska Farmers Market and the annual Harvest Fest celebration because of the weather.
Chamber executive director Gabby Michna says with rain overnight and forecasts of more through the morning with temperatures in the 40s, it was felt the conditions would likely lead most people to stay home this morning rather than come out to Harvest Fest or the Farmers Market.
Today's Farmers Market was to be the last of the season and Michna says no decision has been made yet on whether to add one more week or if Harvest Fest will be rescheduled.
As of 9:00 am, the rain gauge at the KCSR/KBPY/Chadrad Communications offices downtown had recorded a third of an inch of rain since midnight and just under half an inch over the previous 24 hours.
The Chadron State College Homecoming Parade is still scheduled for 9:30 this morning with KCSR to offer broadcast coverage from under the awning at Rachael's Re-Threads downtown.
