(Neb)-School Boards Works On Search Process For New Supt
CHADRON - The Chadron School Board has firmed up more dates in its timeline to find a successor for Superintendent Dr Caroline Winchester, who's retiring at the end of the school year. Under the timeline, the new superintendent will be hired in mid-December.
The board met Thursday night with its consultant from the Nebraska Association of School Boards on some of the nuts-and-bolts of the search process, settling on October 28th as the next consultant's visit - which will including meeting with a variety of stakeholder groups for input on the search.
The meetings with parents, teachers, staff, high school students, and community leaders will help shape the list of attributes the school board wants the new superintendent to have as well as the district goals and concerns they'll be expected to deal with. Members of the general public will able also offer their input and suggestions through an online survey.
Under the timeline, which can be adjusted if needed, applications would close November 25th and the school board meet December 4th to review the candidates and selected a group of finalists, preferably 4 of them.
Interviews would held in Chadron a week later with 2 candidates on the 10th and the other 2 on the 11th. The finalists and their spouses would meet informally with the board for either lunch or dinner in addition to the formal interview.
