(Neb)-Cheyenne Man Killed In I-80 Crash Near Sidney
SIDNEY, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska State Patrol says a 20-year-old Cheyenne man was killed Tuesday afternoon when his car collided with a fuel tanker on Interstate 80 west of Sidney.
Investigators say Chance Seivley was eastbound shortly after 3:00 when he drove onto the right side rumble strips, over-corrected, crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes where he hit the semi.
Seivley was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, 57-year old Monte Larson of Salina, Kansas, escaped serious injury. The freeway was closed by the accident for about hours.
The State Patrol also says an elderly McCook woman was killed Sunday afternoon when she was struck by a pickup.
The Patrol says 81-year old Joyce Vernon was walking along a county road about a half-mile north of McCook when she was hit by 21-year old Jacob Carter, also of McCook.
No citations have been issued and the Nebraska State Patrol and Red Willow County Sheriff's Office are continuing to investigate the accident.
