(Neb)-Sasse Holding Anti-Trafficking Hearing
LINCOLN - Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse will be in Lincoln Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 CT to conduct a hearing for the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee titled "Human Trafficking and Its Intersection with the Financial System."
Sasse, chairman of the panel's Subcommittee on National Security and International Trade Finance, says "Modern slavery is a stain on our society with human trafficking a despicable, multi-billion-dollar business that profits from the suffering of vulnerable women and young children."
Sasse says the hearing is about "shining a light on this black market and bring low-lifes to justice" on behalf of their enslaved victims.
Scheduled to testify are Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson, State Senator Julie Slama, Human Trafficking Initiative Labs CEO Crysta Price of Creighton University, and David Murray, the Vice President of Product Development and Services for the Financial Integrity Network.
