(Neb)-One Fire Blamed On Lightning, One On Human
CRAWFORD - Lightning is blamed for a small fire Wednesday morning in the Ponderosa Wildlife Management Area 5 miles southeast of Crawford, but a nearly 100-acre fire Tuesday afternoon north of Whitney was human-caused.
Crawford Volunteer Fire Chief Brian Prosser says the Mountain Lion Wildfire in the Ponderso WMA was reported at 9:12 yesterday morning and contained a little over an hour later by crews from his department and the U-S Forest Service.
Prosser says the Bates Wildfire 3 miles north of Whitney was reported at 2:43 Tuesday and declared controlled at 7:30. It burned 92 acres, mostly grass, before local and federal firefighters got it stopped.
