(SD)-Two Small Fires Quickly Controlled In Black Hills
RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Great Plains Fire Information Center says quick responses by multiple agencies limited a pair of weekend fires in the Black Hills to only a tenth of acre each.
The Tamarack fire was reported a little after 7:00 Saturday night a mile east of Pactola Reservoir and was controlled within 90 minutes by a combination of local, state, and federal firefighters. It was blamed on an abandoned campfire.
The Horse fire at the Horsehead Campground at Angostura Reservoir was reported a little before 11:00 Sunday morning and was listed as controlled at noon by state crews. Its cause remains unknown.
