(Neb)-Dawes Co Fair Ends Today, Sioux And Fall River Fairs Ramping Up
CHADRON - Today is the last day of the Dawes County Fair in Chadron, highlighted by the Small Animal Round-Robin Showmanship competition at noon, Large Animal Round-Robin Showmanship at 2:00, the Clover Kids Parade at 3:45, and the 4-H Foundation Mark Livestock Sale.
Printed schedules of the Dawes County Fair also list the Fair Dance as being tonight, but the Fair Board moved it to last night about 2 weeks ago.
Highlighting today's action at the Fall River County Fair in Edgemont is the 4-H Round Robin Showmanship Challenge at 4:30, 4-H Livestock Sale at 6:00, the 44th annual Demolition Derby with a $3,500 purse at 7:30, and the Derby Dance with Midnight Sun from 9-1:30 in the morning.
The Sioux County Fair in Harrison had the opening of the Prairie Guild Art Show at the VFW Hall this morning, there's Steer Roping at 3:00, and the Sioux County High School Alumni Banquet is tonight with registration starting at 5:00 and dinner at 6:00.
Yesterday was the 5th Annual Sioux County Fair Cookie and Bar Contest, judged by KCSR/KBPY's own Mike Kesselring and sponsored by his Badlands Storage and Implement in Harrison.
Taking top honors in the Junior Division with M&M Granola Bars was Baxter Reece while Ruger Pelster was 2nd with Fingerprint Cookies. The Adult Division winner was Kat Reece with Carrot/Oatmeal Moon Cookies.
By the way, Mike Kesselring and Dennis Brown will be in Harrison Saturday morning at 10:30 to broadcast the Sioux County Fair Parade on KCSR.
