(Neb)-Fur Trade Days Carnival Setting Up Listen
Chadron's 43rd Fur Trade Days Celebration is this week. Last year was proclaimed as Fur Trade Days Reload with a new board making a number of changes. Board member and Mayor Miles Bannan says this year's schedule reflects last year's success.
In a sense, Fur Trade Days begins today because the carnival is arriving and setting up. Bannan is excited to bring in Mac's Carnival and Attractions, which is a larger company than last year's and is bringing in more rides.
Last year, the carnival was on Chadron Avenue and in the city parking last year, but this year it's on the 100 and 200 blocks of Bordeaux, which closed to the public today,
A change in the state inspection process is responsible for the early street closure as Mac's needs to have all the rides set up a little earlier than before.
The parking lots on the 200 block of Bordeaux, will remain open all week, but with access from the south using the alley and egress using the alley to the north.
Pre-sale carnival wristband coupons remain available at the Chadron Chamber of Commerce for $20, a $5 savings from purchasing wristbands at the ticket booth - where the pre-sale coupons will be redeemed.
Each wristband is good for a 5-hour block - either 5-10:00 on Thursday, noon-5:00 or 5-10:00 on Friday and Saturday, or noon-5:00 on Sunday.
