(Neb)-Rushville Voters Decided On Poll Bond Tuesday
RUSHVILLE - Rushville voters will decide Tuesday on an $850,000 bond issue to help fund a renovation and expansion of the city swimming pool. Ballots in the all-mail vote must be returned to the Sheridan County Clerk's office no later than 5:00 on Tuesday.
The proposal by Burbach Aquatics, the company that designed the conversion of Chadron's outdoor pool into the indoor Chadron Area Aquatics and Wellness Center, calls for renovating and modernizing the existing facility and building a new outdoor facility.
The new pool would have a zero-depth entry with water features that include a raft slide and lazy river. It would be surrounded by nearly 9,300-square feet of deck area and shade structures. All existing filters and mechanical systems would also be upgraded.
The proposal is the result of nearly 4 years of work by the SOS - Sink or Swim - Pool Committee, which conducted a survey in 2015 that had a 99% positive response.
The Committee has already received one major grant and some smaller funding commitments that would be in addition to the proposed bond issue.
Supporters say that if voters approve the bond and the capital campaign is successful, construction could start next year with the new facility opening in the summer of 2021.
