(Neb.)- Post Playhouse To Debut The Last New Show Of The Season, Tonight

By: Jeremy Anderson Posted at: 07/05/2019 07:46 AM
(Chadrad News)- The Fort Robinson Post Playhouse opens its fifth and final show of the season tonight, Little Shop of Horrors. The deviously delicious sci-fi musical starts with curtain times of 8:00 tonight and tomorrow night and 2:00 Sunday, then joins the other 4 shows in rotation. Tonight is a sellout with about 30 tickets currently available for both tomorrow night and Sunday afternoon.

The Playhouse has given Little Shop its unofficial rating of “H” for scary moments, but actor Trey Mendlick says there's really nothing to be scared about in the musical that he calls one of his favorites.

Mendlick, a Nebraskan and graduate of Midland University, plays the hero of the show - meek florist's assistant Seymour Krelborn. He says that at its heart, Little Shop of Horrors is a love story playing out against an unusual backdrop.

This is the third production of Little Shop staged by the Post Playhouse and the 20th anniversary of the first. Daniel Langhoff, who portrayed the sadistic dentist Orin and other characters in that production and went on to become an award-winning actor in the Denver area, lost a nearly 3-year battle with cancer in Nov 2017 at age 42.

Tomorrow marks the start of the expanded Playhouse schedule with matinees every day except Monday, when the theater is closed, and Tuesday, which has just the 8 pm show. Sister Act has the first additional matinee tomorrow, and next Saturday will add morning performances at 10:00 until August 17, the next-to-last day of the season.

Tickets for all 5 of this season's shows may be ordered by calling the box office at 308-665-1976 or 800-665-1976 during regular hours or 24/7 online at postplayhouse.com.
