(Neb.)- OWT Rodeo Begins, Western Wildlife Art Show Hosts Kids Contest
(Chadrad News)- The annual Western Wildlife Art Show continues today in the historic Veterinary Hospital at Fort Robinson State Park, but with a special focus on kids up to 18 as the Children's Wall of Art contest runs from 10:00-2:00.
The competition is in multiple age groups with kids in each given the chance to create art appropriate for their age. The artworks will be judged at 2:00 and the winners announced in a ceremony at 4:00.
There is a small entry fee and parental consent is required for each youngster. Just like professional artists, a copywrite release is needed from each contestant or parent so their works can be show to a wider audience.
The Art Show, with more than 2 dozen professional artists, will continue throughout the day from 9-7:00. The show wraps up tomorrow with hours of 9-5.
Today is also the first day of the Old West Trail Rodeo, sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Professionals from across the United States and potentially several other countries will compete in bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, and bull riding while a smaller number of cowgirls will be competing in barrel racing.
The rodeo will end with a bang as usual after tomorrow night's session with the annual 4th of July fireworks show.
